Mail Collector

If enabled by the system administrator the Mail Collector allows for email to be collected from any POP3 server into a folder you designate on your account. For the correct server settings please consult the documentation for the accounts you wish to collect mail for. Mail is collected on a schedule set by the system administrator; the default interval is every ten minutes. After creating an account and saving the settings you should see messages appear in the designated folder.

• Add. Creates a new Mail Collector account to the list where you can configure settings for the new account.
• Save. Saves the settings for all accounts shown. Changes made are not permanent until this button is clicked.
• Enabled. When checked this account will be processed when the server performs its next mail collection.
• Account name. This is the name to identify the account; it can be any value you wish.
• Server address. Consult the documentation for the account for the correct server address.
• Port. Consult the documentation for the account for the correct server port.
• SSL Type. Consult the documentation for the account for the correct SSL Encryption settings.
• Detect Port and SSL Settings. If you know the Server address but are unsure of the other settings you can click this button and the system will attempt to detect the best connection method.
• Username. This is usually your email address for the account you wish to collect mail from.
• Password. This is the password for your account you wish to collect mail from.
• Destination folder. This is the folder where messages will be added when they are retrieved from the POP3 server.
• Leave a copy of messages on the server. If enabled messages will not immediately be removed from the POP3 server when collected.

  Note: You may want to consult the documentation for the account you wish to collect mail from because some require additional settings in that account.

• Remove from server after day(s). If enabled messages will be deleted after the number of days specified have expired since originally downloading the message.
• Check for spam. If enabled by the system administrator you will be able to have messages collected from the POP3 server checked for SPAM.

  Note: When this option is enabled there are options for what action to take when a message is flagged as spam (Move or Delete). If Move is selected then there will be a list of folders to where spam messages will be added. If Delete is selected then the message will be deleted.

• Check for viruses. If enabled by the system administrator you will be able to have messages collected from the POP3 server checked for Viruses.

  Note: When this option is enabled there are options for what action to take when a message contains a virus (Move or Delete). If Move is selected then there will be a list of folders to where infected messages will be added. If Delete is selected then the message will be deleted.

• Remove This Account. Clicking this button will remove the account from your list of accounts.
• Test Account Settings. Clicking this button will verify the system is able to connect to the POP3 server and the Username and Password are valid.

  Note: To work correctly the POP3 server must support the UIDL POP3 extension, when the account settings are tested this capability will be verified and an error will be shown if it is not supported.
